Cricket: "IPL 2011 Match No 40: Mumbai Indians v Kings XI Punjab"



Hi and Welcome to the Match No 40 of the IPL 2011 season between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. Mumbai Indians are still ahead in the points table and would like to show their authority in this match too, on the other hand Kings XI Punjab after recent impressive wins have again come back to their loosing stream. Lets see if Kings XI Punjab can pull this off or atleast give a tight fight to Mumbai Indians.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first. For Mumbai Indians DJ Jacobs and Sachin Tendulkar opened the batting, for Kings XI Punjab BA Bhatt opened the bowling. Mumbai Indians lost DJ Jacobs early for 10 when the score was 14 of 2.3 overs. Then Sachin Tendulkar and AT Rayudu score 95 runs of just 12 overs and gave a good platform for the next batsmen to come and play thier shots. Sachin Tendulkar and AT rayudu where out after their respective fifties. KA Pollard and RG Sharma played some big shots at the end of the innings to bloster the total of Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians finished with 159 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. For Mumbai Indians Sachin Tendulkar and AT Rayudu scored 51 each, for Kings XI Punjab RJ Harris and PP Chawla took 2 wickets each.

In reply Kings XI Punjab opened the batting with PC Valthaty and AC Gilchrist, for Mumbai Indians Harbhajan Singh opened the bowling. Harbhajan Singh struck in his very first over when he caught AC Gilchrist leg before for 0. PC Valthaty and SE Marsh then played cautiously and scored 72 runs in 10 overs. Once PC Valthaty was out to A Symonds, flood gates where opened and Kings XI Punjab lost wickets quickly one after another. SE Marsh tried his best till the end and scored a brilliant 61. Kings XI Punjab finished with 136 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Kings XI Punjab fell short by 23 runs. For Kings XI Punjab SE Marsh scored 61 and PC Valthaty scored 33, for Mumbai Indians Harbhajan Singh, SL Malinga and MM Patel took 2 wickets each.

Hello and Welcome to 37th Match of the IPL 2011 season between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab. Kolkata Knight Riders are riding high after their win against Delhi Daredevils and on other side Kings XI Punjab lost to the same Delhi Daredevils in a high scoring match. Lets see who will overcome whom in today's battle.

Kolkata Knight riders won the toss and slected to bowl first. For Kings XI Punjab AC Gilchrist and PC Valthaty opened the batting, for Kolkatta Knight Riders B Lee opened the bowling. Kings XI Punjab lost pinch hitters PC Valthaty and SE Marsh early. AC Gilchrist and KD Karthik decreased the pace to repair the innings. Once AC Gilchrist was bowled by Iqbal Abdullah Kings XI Punjab coudnt handle the spin and managed to score just 119 for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. For Kings XI Punjab KD Karthik scored 42 and AC Gilchrist scored 26, for kolkata Knight Riders Iqbal Abdullah took 2 wickets.

In reply Kolkatt Knight Riders opened the batting with JH Kallis and EJG Morgan, Kings XI Punjab opened the bowling with P Kumar. Kolkata Knight Riders lost JH Kallis early for 1, but EJG Morgan enjoyed his opening stinct with some glorious shots but he too was out for 28 when the score was 35 in 4.2 overs. G Gambhir and K Tiwary played some glorious shorts and rotated strike and made sure they didnt lost any more wickets and took Kolkata knight riders home with nearly 3 overs to spare. For Kolkata Knight Riders G Gambhir scored 45* and MK Tiwary 34*, for Kings XI Punjab BA Bhatt took 2 wickets.

Hi and welcome to the 26th match of the IPL 2011 season between Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab. Delhi DareDevils are sitting last in the tabel where are Kings XI Punjab had a a recent winning streak. Lets see if Delhi Daredevils can show their dare in todays match.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first. Delhi had the most explosive start in IPL history when Virender Sehwag and DA Warner blasted the hapless Kings XI Punjab bowlers to all the outer parts of the stadium. First wicket partnership was 146 of 11.4 overs, Sehwag was out trying to score a 4th consecutive six. Inspite of both the openers back in pavilion Y venugopal Rao and NV Ojha scored 47 of the last 3 overs to to score the highest total of IPL 2011 season. Delhi Scored 231 of their allotted 20 overs. for Delhi Daredevils Sehwag and DA Warner scored 77 each, for Kings XI Punjab Praveen Kumar, Chawla, Nayar and D Hussey took a wicket each.

In reply Kings XI Punjab had a initial good start from openers Gilchrist and Valthaty. Once Valthaty was out of the bowling of Irfan Pathan SE Marsh came to the crease and with Kings XL Punjab captain Gilchrist gave the same treatment what earlier warner and sehwag did. They were on their course for the chase that VR Aaron bowled Gilchrist round the wicket. Once Gilchrist was out the flood gates where open and wickets started to fall at regular intervals. SE Marsh played a lone battle and never gave up till the end. Kings XI Punjab scored 202 for 6 of their 20 overs. Delhi Daredevils have won a game after so many ages and with 29 runs. for Kings XI Punjab SE Marsh made a masterful 95 and Gilchrist 42, for Delhi Daredevils Agarkar took 2 wickets.

Hello and Welcome to 23rd match of IPL 2011 season between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. IPL 2011 season is wide open with no clear dictators so far and each team has showed their strenghts and weaknesses. Lets see what these teams have to offer today.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bowl first. Gilchrist and Valthaty opened the batting for Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab had a powerful start when Gilchrist and Valthaty blasted all the Rajasthan Royals bowlers to all corners of the park. They made 67 of just 4 overs. Once Gilchrist was out of the bowling of Watson, Valthaty took the scoring burden on his shoulders and played few glorious shots. Once Valthaty was out of the bowling of warne, SE Marsh took it on him to score and with the combined effort Punjab made a fantastic 195 of their 20 overs. For Kings XI Punjab SE March scored 71 and Valthaty 46, for Rajasthan Royals Tait took 3 and Watson 2 wickets respectively.

In reply Rajasthan Royals had a horror start when their openers Dravid and Asnodkar where back to the pavilion within first 3 overs. Watson and Binny tried to increase the temp but once Watson was out of the bowling of Kumar the flood gates where open and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Rajasthan where bowled out for 147 and Kings XI Punjab won convinsingly by 48 runs. For Rajasthan Royals Menaria scored 34 and Binny 30, for Kings XI Punjab Bhatt and Praveen Kumar took 2 wickets each.

Hello and Welcome to the Match No 15 of the IPL season 2011 between Hyderabad Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab lost its initial matches and on other hand Hyderabad Deccan chargers had mixed results. Lets see if Punjab can open their account of wins today.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first. For Deccan Chargers S Sohal and S Dhawan opened the batting, for Kings XI Punjab P Kumar opened the bowling. Deccan Chargers lost S Sohal of early in the innings when he was out to RJ Harris. S Dhawan and KC Sangakkara then played sensibly and scored 75 runs of the next 9 overs. Once KC Sangakkara was out to PP Chawla deccan chargers panicked and started loosing wickets. Late strikes from DT Christian helped Deccan chargers some respectability to the score. Deccan Chargers scored 165 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. For Deccan Chargers S Dhawan scored 45 and KC Sangakkara scored 35, for Kings XI Punjab PC Valthaty took 4 wickets.

In reply Kings XI Punjab opened the batting with AC Gilchrist and PC Valthaty, for Deccan Chargers DW Steyn opened the bowling. Kings XI Punjab got an excellent start to their chase when AC Gilchrist and PC Valthaty tored the Deccan Chargers bowling into pieces and scored 136 runs of the first 14 overs and shut down all the hopes of deccan chargers. A Mishra took AC Gilchrist and PC Valthaty wickets but it was way too late. AM Nayar and KD Karthik then calmly took Kings XI Punjab home with 8 wickets and more than 2 overs to spare. For Kings XI Punjab PC Valthaty scored 75 and AC Gilchrist scored 61, for Deccan Chargers A Mishra took 2 wickets.

Cricket: "IPL 2011 Match No 9: Kings XI Punjab v Chennai Super Kings"



Hello and welcome to the 9th Match of the IPL 2011 Season between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings after initial success and looking pretty good and Kings XI Punjab after their disastrous first match are looking to start it fresh. Lets see who will have the upper hand going forward in IPL 2011 season.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and selected to bowl first. For Chennai Super Kings S Anirudha and M Vijay opened the batting, for Kings XI Punjab P Kumar openined the bowling. Kings XI Punjab tasted success when P Kumar got the wicket of S Anirudha of the very first ball and SK Raina of the very next ball. M Vijay and S Badrinath then shared a brilliant 124 partnership in less than 15 overs. When M Vijay was out to PP Chawla MS Dhoni joined S Badrinath and scored 64 of the next 5 overs and gave Chennai Super kings an excellent total of 188 for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. For Chennai Super kings M Vijay Scored 74, S Badrinath scored 66* and MS Dhoni 43, for Kings XI Punjab P Kumar took 2 wickets.

In reply Kings XI Punjab opened with PC Valthaty (A relatively new face) and their captain AC Gilchrist, as usual R Ashwin opened the bowling for Chennai Super Kings. Kings XI Punjab had a fanstastic start when PC Valthaty blasted chennai super kings bowlers to all parts of the ground. Inspite of Kings XI Punjab loosing wickets at one end, he continued his clean hits from other end and kept the required run rate under control. KD Karthik joined him in the end and PC Valthaty and KD Karthik took Kings XI Punjab home with 6 wickets in hand and nearly one over to spare. PC Valthaty scored a brillinat century and paced the chase brilliantly. For Kings XI Punjab PC Valthaty scored 120* and KD Karthik 21*, for Chennai Super kings TG Southee, JA Morkel and S Randiv took a wicket a piece.

Hi and welcome to the Match No 5 of the IPL 2011 season between Pune Warriors and Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab after a bad season last year are looking good with a complete make over and on the other hand Pune Warriors are making their Debut in IPL. Lets see how they handle their first match in IPL 2011 season.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. For Kings XI Punjab AC Gilchrist and SE Marsh opened the batting and Pune Warriors who are making their debut opened the bowling with AC Thomas and SB Wagh. Kings XI Punjab had a horror start and in no time AC thomas and SB Wagh where all over them in no time. Within four over Kings XI Punjab scored 9 runs for the loss of 4 top order wickets. With the exception of R McLaren, Kings XI Punjab coudnt come out of the disastrous start and scored just 112 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. For Kings XI punjab R McLaren scored 51*, for Pune Warriors SB Wagh took 3 and AC Thomas took 2 wickets respectively.

In reply Pune warriors lost GC Smith of the very first ball. Then JD Ryder and M Manhas played cautiously and made a move on. Pune warriors had a little trouble when both JD Ryder and M Manhas where out within 4 balls to AM Nayar and R McLaren respectively. RV Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh made sure that there are no more troubles and took Pune warriors home with 7 wickets and nearly 7 overs to spare. It was a incredible debut win for Pune warriors in IPL. For Pune warriors M Manhas scored 35 and JD Ryder scored 31, for Kings XI Punjab Praveen Kumar, AM Nayar and R McLaren took a wicket a piece.


Man of the Match was give to SB Wagh for his 3 wickets.

Cricket: "Irfan Pathan's All round show steals a win for Punjab"



Match No 15: Kings XI punjab Vs Rajasthan Royals

Kings XI Punjab came back strongly and defeated Rajasthan Royals by 27 runs at Newlands, Cape town. It was Pathan and Sangakkara who were the starts who did it for punjab.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a disastrous start as they lost goel of the very first ball. Bopara followed him soon. Sangakkara kept one end intact but he was loosing out of partners at other end. Yuvraj and Jayawardene followed soon without troubling the scorers. Jayawardene fall of wicket had bring Irfan to the crease. Sangakkara and Pathan added 75 of just 10 overs and revived punjab's inning. Punjab scored respectable 139 of their 20 overs. Top scorers for Punjab were Sangakkara 60 and pathan 39 and main strikers for Rajasthan Royals were Kamran Khan and Munaf Patel with two wickets each.

Rajasthan Royals didnt learn from their earlier mistakes and kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. They were 42 for 6 of just 8 overs. With top order 6 batsmen including Yousuf pathan and Graeme smith coudnt score a reasonable socre. Jadeja and Warne did some batting practise for thier next match and scored some runs. Rajasthan scored 112 for 7 of their allotted 20 overs. Jadeja scored 37 and warne was undefeated on 34 for Rajasthan Royals, were as Abdullah took 3 and Pathan and Chawla taking 2 wickets each for Punjab. Eventually Rajasthan Lost by 27 runs.

Cricket: "Bopara makes Punjab break the jinx with an easy win against Bangalore"



Semi-finalist in the first version of IPL, Kings XI Punjab started there camapaign in second version rather dissapointing with 2 losses. They registered their first win againt Bangalore at Kingsmead Durban with an easy 7 wicket win.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a disappointing start when they lost Uthappa caught by yuvraj off irfan for a first ball duck. This time around ryder didnt dissappoint (Remember he was out first ball duck in either of his first two matches) and scored a quick fire 32 of 21 balls with 6 hits to the fence before yorked by Abdullah in 6th over when the score was reading 48. Two balls later pieterson followed him giving Abdullah his second wicket in the same over. Dravid too followed suit with a sedade innings of 10 from 13 balls. Dravid wicket had bring taylor to the crease and then the run flow started. Taylor with kallis blasted the Punjab bowlers to all parts of the ground, they added 60 runs in exactly 6 overs. Kallis was caught by jayawardene giving Abdullah his third wicket. Kallis made a gritty 62 of 46 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes and Taylor made 35 of 22 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. The lower order chipped in with useful contributions. For Punjab Abdullah and Irfan were the stike bowlers with each taking 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Bangalore made a commanding toal of 168 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Punjab started their chase brilliantly with their openers Goel and Bopara scoring 52 f 6.4 overs. Goel fell shortly when there was a miscommunication between them and fell short of his crease. Then sangakkara fell to kumble before adding a quick fire 40 runs for the second wicket with bopara. Sangakkara scored 26 of 18 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. with the fall of second wicket yuvraj came to the crease and made sure that there were no more casualties and scored 66 runs with bopara before bopara was out caught to Ryder of kallis trying to clear the boundary. Bopara made a fantastic 84 of 59 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. yuvraj made a classy 30 runs of 17 balls with 3 fours and 1 six and completed the formalities for punjab with jayawardene and won the match for Punjab with 1 over to spare.

Man of the match was awarded to Ravi Bopara for his match winning fantastic knock of 84 of 59 balls.

Scores: Kings XI Punjab 173 for 3 (Bopara 84) beat Bangalore Royal Challengers 168 for 9 (Kallis 62, Abdulla 4-31, Pathan 3-35) by seven wickets

Cricket: "Duckwoth-Lewis helps Kolkata Knight Riders Open their account"



Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab by 11 runs in a rain shortened match. Duckworth-Lewis came to the rescue of Kolkata as they were 11 runs ahead of what they scored at that time and were declared the winners. This was a setback for first series IPL semifinalist Punjab who have lost 2 matches in a row.

Kolkatta Knight Riders won the all important toss and choose to bowl first. Ishant sharma compliment it well by removing the dangerous Goel for a duck. Irfan was promoted up the order as a pinch hitter. He did his part by scoring a quick 32 of 17 balls which includes 5 hits to boundary and one over it. Ganguly was the wrecker in chief for Kolkatta who did a mini collapse by removing irfan and bopara in same over. Sangakkara and Captain Yuvraj stedead the ship with a 56 run partnership for 4th wicket and paved the way for Punjab. Punjab ended up scoring 158 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Kolkatta Knight Riders started it off brilliantly with two dangerous batsmen scoring 57 of just 5.3 overs. Inspite of McCullum falling to malik, gayle continued from where he left. When 9.2 overs were bowled rain came and it never went and all hopes of punjab were dashed with Duckworth-Lewis calculation as kolkatta were 11 runs ahead of what they should be and were declared the winners.

Man of the Match was awarded to CH Gayle for his gritty knock of 44 of 26 balls which included 2 hits to boundary and 4 over it.
