Cricket: "IPL 2011 Match No 25: Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings"



Welcome to Match No: 25 between the giants of IPL 2011 Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. These are the defending finalist of the IPL 2010. Both the teams are likely favourites this time around too, lets see how the encounter went through.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and their captain Dhoni elected to field first. For Mumbai Indians R Sathish and Tendulkar opened the batting and for Chennai Super kings JA Morkel opened the bowling. Mumbai Indians lost both the openers R Sathish and Tendulkar quiet cheaply and the Chennai Super Kings bowlers where threatening to make further in roads into Mumbai Indians. Then came Rohit Sharma for the rescue, he and Rayudu played very well and their parternship of 61 helped Mumbai Indians out of trouble. Once Rayudu was out Rohit sharma and Symmonds made sure Mumbai Indians reached a above par total of 164 of their 20 overs. For Mumbai Indians Rohit sharma scored 87, Symmonds 31 and Rayudu 27, for Chennai Super Kings Bollinger took 2 wickets.

Chennai super kings had a good start from their openers Hussey and vijay. Munaf provided the first break through for Mumbai Indians when he dismissed Vijay for 12 in 4th over. Chennai super kings lost raina quickly for 5 caught and bowled by Harbhajan. Hussey and Badrinath partnerhsip was threatening to take the match away. then entered malinga, who bowled a short ball to hussey who then tires to pull but coudnt get enough and outside edge was just touching the ground that pollard dived full length to catch it and give hopes for Mumbai Indians. Once Hussey was back to the pavilion, Chennai super kings lost wickets at regular intervals but Badrinath played his shots from other end and match was undecided till the last three balls where 17 was required of 3 balls. Munaf bowled nervless 3 balls and Mumbai where home with 8 runs. For chennai super kings Badrinath socred 71* and Hussey 41, for Mumbai Indians Harbhajan took 5 wickets.

Mumbai Indians Harbhajan Singh won Man of the Match for his 5 wickets.

Score: Mumbai Indians 164 for 4 (Rohit 87, Symonds 31, Bollinger 2-30) beat Chennai Super Kings 156 for 9 (Badrinath 71*, Hussey 41, Harbhajan 5-18) by eight runs
