Cricket: "Yousuf Pathan Steals Rajasthan a thriller with super over"

Hey let me ask you one question did you thought that the match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Dare Devils was the best match till date?... If that was the best match then the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Newlands, Cape Town was the mother of best matches. Yeah i am not kidding just read on......

It is indeed the best match of this IPL season and first tie. Yousuf Pathan showed why Rajasthan Royals are the defending champions. It was one of the elctrifying, thriller, call it what ever you want... but this was the most astonishing match of the tournment.

Kolkatta Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first. They complimented their call with two early wickets with not much on the board. Score was reading 14 for 2 of 2.2 overs and Yousuf pathan came to crease. He didnt bother about the wickets and continued his natural game and took score to 70 for 2 of 8 overs. Yousuf scored 42 of 21 with 6 boundaries and 2 over it. Thats when disastor stuck rajasthan. Mendis was introduced in 9th over and he striked twice in that over to remove smith and pathan and rajasthan fell apart. Jadeja and Mascarenhas consolidated with some slow partnership and Raut chipped in which a quick fire 21 at end which included 1 boundary and 2 over it. Rajasthan made a below par 150 of their stipulated 20 overs.

Kolkatta started rather cautiously and with McCullum playing slowly against his attacking instincts where as gayle was at his fluent best scoring heavily. Rajsathan had the first blood in the form of Mccullum. Mascarenhas removed him for 3 of 9 balls and score was reading 25 for 1 of 4 overs. Gayle scored a quick fire 41 of 33 balls which included 2 boundaries and 4 over it. Once he departed of warne bowling Kolkata kept loosing wickets at regular intervals and the runrate was climbing up. Once Ganguly came to crease he made sure that Kolkata were in hunt till the end. Ganguly and Yashpal added 49 runs for the 6th wicket before yashpal was foxed by captain warne in the penultimate over. Kolkatta required 7 of last 6 balls and ball was handed over to kamran khan. Warne showed immense faith in this yound lad by handing over the ball to him to finish the game. He kept his captains faith with a tight line and lenght. He even even took the wicket of ganguly of the penultimate ball and made sure that kolkatta didnt won and the game was tied.

According to the new rules if their is a tie each team should play a super over. Which ever team scores more runs will win the match. Kolkatta had to bat first and they choosed Gayle, McCullum and Ganguly as their batsmen and the bowler for super over for Rajasthan was the man with golden arm for the day "Kamran Khan". For Rajsthan Yousuf Pathan, Jadeja and Warne will bat where as Mendis will bowl the super over for Kolkatta.

Kamran started of well but gave three consecutive boundaries to gayle and kolkatta managed a good 15 of their alloted one super over. Yousuf pathan came into bat the super over for rajasthan royals and mendis was to bowl for kolkatta. Mendis first ball was easily lofted to long on for an easy six and next ball was pulled ferociously for another six and tried for a hattrick with 3rd ball but couldnt connect the ball well and collected 2 runs and next ball was hammered for 4 and yousuf pathan sealed the match in just 4 balls. It was an nail bitting finish to a pulsating match.

Man of the Match was awarded to Yousuf Pathan for his 42 of 21 balls and electrifying 18 of super over to win the match. It was a perfect and Unanimous decision to make.

Kolkata Knight Riders 150 for 8 (Ganguly 46, Gayle 41, Kamran 3-18) tied with Rajasthan Royals 150 for 6 (Yusuf 42, Mendis 2-19). Rajasthan win in Super Over

Cricket: "Delhi Dare Devils win's thriller against Chenai Super Kings"

Delhi Dare Devils won the high scoring thriller against Chennai Super kings at Kingsmead, Durban. It was easily the best match till date in IPL Season 2. It was any body's game till the last over of the match.

Delhi Dare Devils won the toss and elected to bat first. Delhi started it disastrously by losing Gambhir of the very first ball. Sehwag soon followed him the next over and delhi were 8 for 2 off the first 2 overs. Then came the most consistent batsman devillers and man for the crisis Dilshan to crease. They started rather cautiously but once settled down started exploding. Dilshan was the main scorer in their partnership and scored quick 50 of just 26 balls and holed out to raina off morkel. Score was reading 76 of 8.3 and much was left on Devillers to carry on from were dilshan left. He indeed took the responsibility and scored a timely century to steer his team out of trouble. This was the first century for IPL season 2 and single handedly took Delhi to a wonderful 189 of their stipulated 20 overs.

In reply Chennai Super kings had a good confident start with their opening pair patel and hayden scoring 57 of the first 5 overs. Patel was the first to go trying to hit sangwan out of the ground and holing out to Devillers. Then Hayden and Raina tried to consolidate but the asking rate was always high which took a toll on chennai and they sccumbed in lieu of chasing such a huge target. But chennai super kings must be commended for their heroic approach in their chase. They came very close but coudnt make it. But what ever it is Delhi got their 2 points and Chennai didnt, at last this is what matters most.

Man of the Match was awarded to AB de Villiers for his Match Winning and First IPL Season 2 Century (105 of 54 balls).

Scores: Delhi Daredevils 189 for 5 (de Villiers 105*, Dilshan 50, Balaji 3-19) beat Chennai Super Kings (Hayden 57, Raina 41, Sangwan 3-28) by nine runs

Cricket: "Hyderabad Deccan Chargers Make it two in a row"

Hyderabad Deccan Chargers have turned the table around in IPL Season 2 by winning their second consecutive match. Last time around they have won just 2 matches of the total 14 matches they played. Here at Newlands, Cape Town Hyderabad defeated Bangalore quite confortably and won as many matches they palyed.

Hyderabad Deccan Charges won the toss and rightly elected to bat first. They had an explosive start with Gilchrist and Gibbs going on a rampage. They scored 46 of just 3.4 overs before Gibbs fell to Praveen Kumar for 13 runs. VVS Laxman followed him soon when he gave a simple low catch to steyn off ryder. Then entered Rohit Sharma who was the star for hyderabad in last IPL season. He and Gilchrist added 61 for the 3rd wicket before Gilchrist was out of pieterson's bowling. Rohit played a quiet innings until his captain was around and exploded once he departed. He scored a well made halfcentury and was out to steyn at death. Others chipped in well and Hyderabad scored a respectable 184 of their stipulated 20 overs.

Bangalore had a dismal start to their chase, Edwards yorked Ryder for a one ball duck. Soon kallis, uthappa and pieterson followed him. It was the wall (Dravid) and yound promising player virat kohli who came to bangalore's rescue for a respectable score. Dravid was out for 48 and kohli scored an entertaining 50 and paved way for bangalore to lose the match with pride. Bangalore made 160 of their stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 24 runs.

Man of the Match was awarded to AC Gilchrist for his Match Winning 71 fo 45 balls.

Scores: Deccan Chargers 184 for 6 (Gilchrist 71, Rohit 52) beat Bangalore Royal Challengers 160 for 8 (Kohli 50, Dravid 48, Styris 3-32, RP Singh 2-17) by 24 runs

Personal Experience: "Simple Trick for Booking a Confirmed Train Ticket"

When we are away from home, we just wait for long weekends to come so that we can plan to go home. Train is generally the comfortable travel medium which many of us follow. This article is mainly helpful for those who want to book a train ticket in peak seasons.

I have named it as "break journey concept". Here you need to book tickets from one station to aother in parts but for the same train. Many might be wondering how it can be possible? here is how it can be possible.

Let me first explain my experience as to how it happened to me:

I didnt plan beforehand for my long weekend on may day, which falls on 1st of may,2009 that's on friday. As a result all the train's 'ticket booking status' was in waiting list (W/L). I was in a dilema whether to cancel my trip this time or not, as getting a ticket in tatkal is highly impossible. Was searching for other ways of booking ticket, then "break journey concept" came to my mind.

This is what i did:

I had to travel from Bangalore to Hyderabad. My Options were:

Train No:Train NameAvailability Status
2786Bangalore Express323 W/L
7604Yeshwantpur Express150 W/L
Gareebrath Doesnt Operate on thursday

As 30th April (my supposed travel date) falls on thursday there was no gareeb rath express (which is another option on friday's).

I checked the complete schedule for Bangalore Express (Train no 2786).

First checked availability from yelahanka to hyderabad, it was the same waiting list. Further checked for the consecuitve stations till hyderabad, status of waiting list changed from dharmavaram. From dharmavaram to hyderabad, status was 38 waiting list.... (This is because there will be RPWL (Regional pooled waiting list) for specific stations). Since it was the primary train (2786) waiting list getting confirmed was impossible.

Next option was Yeshwantput Express (Train no 7604).

Followed the same procedure, from Yeshwantpur to Hyderabad status was 150 Waiting List. Where as when i checked from Yeshwantpur to Dharmavaram status was 108 available and from Dharmavaram to Hyderabad it was 65 available for the same train.

I went ahead and booked the tickets. First ticket was in S1 coach and Second ticket was in S4 coach. As it is the same train shifting coaches is not a big deal. More over i need to shift the coach at 7 pm which is very fine. Last but not the least the fare, it costed me 40 rs extra which is nominal charge instead of paying 150 for tatkal. So this trick helped me plan my long weekend successfully.

If you liked it you can also give it a try. If are'nt clear about this, please mail me at @ rahamat_234@yahoo.com or can call me directly @ 919886441436 for further clarifications.

Cricket: "Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals Match Washed out"

Match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals was washed out at Kingsmead, Durban without a ball bowled. It was most important match for either teams as Mumbai Indians were on high and wanted to keep the same momemtum by winning this match. On the other side Rajasthan Royals who have lost their first match against Bangalore Royal Challengers were aiming for a win here to setback the loss which they encountered. All in all it was a dissapointing news for the spectators and cricket lovers as a whole who were waiting for the match to happen.

Cricket: "Duckwoth-Lewis helps Kolkata Knight Riders Open their account"

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab by 11 runs in a rain shortened match. Duckworth-Lewis came to the rescue of Kolkata as they were 11 runs ahead of what they scored at that time and were declared the winners. This was a setback for first series IPL semifinalist Punjab who have lost 2 matches in a row.

Kolkatta Knight Riders won the all important toss and choose to bowl first. Ishant sharma compliment it well by removing the dangerous Goel for a duck. Irfan was promoted up the order as a pinch hitter. He did his part by scoring a quick 32 of 17 balls which includes 5 hits to boundary and one over it. Ganguly was the wrecker in chief for Kolkatta who did a mini collapse by removing irfan and bopara in same over. Sangakkara and Captain Yuvraj stedead the ship with a 56 run partnership for 4th wicket and paved the way for Punjab. Punjab ended up scoring 158 in their stipulated 20 overs.

Kolkatta Knight Riders started it off brilliantly with two dangerous batsmen scoring 57 of just 5.3 overs. Inspite of McCullum falling to malik, gayle continued from where he left. When 9.2 overs were bowled rain came and it never went and all hopes of punjab were dashed with Duckworth-Lewis calculation as kolkatta were 11 runs ahead of what they should be and were declared the winners.

Man of the Match was awarded to CH Gayle for his gritty knock of 44 of 26 balls which included 2 hits to boundary and 4 over it.

Scores: Kolkata Knight Riders 79 for 1 (Gayle 44*, McCullum 21) beat Kings XI Punjab 158 for 6 (Yuvraj 38, Pathan 32, Ganguly 2-24) by 11 runs by D/L method

Cricket: "Chennai Super Kings trash Bangalore Royal Challengers"

Mu

Chennai Super Kings trash Bangalore Royal Challengers beating them with 92 runs at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth. Chennai Super Kings put the past back and had a thumping win again hapless Bangalore Royal Challengers. They showed their command in all departments.

Chennai won the toss and rightly elected to bat first. Patel and Hayden scored the first century parnership of this series and midway they were 106 without loss. Hayden was more harsh on bangalore, milking 4's and 6's. After the strategic timeout momentom was little deviated towards bangalore as patel was bowled by pietersen. Next ball hayden was runout of dravid's fielding. Then raina kept the momentum going and at end flintoff made sure that the start was not wasted and Chennai compiled a mamoth 179.

In reply bangalore lost early wicket through Praveen Kumar, who was promoted up the order as pinch hitter but was out bowled by Gony in the very first over. There on Uthappa and Kallis added 40 runs for second wicket, Once kallis was out to morkel wickets kept falling like playing cards. With the exception of dravid no other batsmen scored a reasonable score. They were allout for pathetic 87 in 15.2 overs. The wrecker in chief was Murali with 3 for 11 and was well supported by other chennai bowlers.

Man of the Match was rightly awarded to Muralitharan for his 3 for 11 in 4 four overs.

Scores: Chennai Super Kings 179 for 5 (Hayden 65) beat Bangalore Royal Challengers 87 (Murali 3-11) by 92 runs

Cricket: "Allrounder Captain Clarke helps Australia take Series Lead"

Michael Clarke made a classy 66 and later took 3 for 15 and made sure that Australia take a 2-1 lead in the third match against Pakistan at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. It was a low scoring match with both the sides losing their wickets to spinners, such was the domination of the spinners in this match.

Australia won the toss and chose to bat first, they started cautiously well untill hopes was runout of a direct hit from younis khan. Watson followed him soon. Haddin was foxed by shoaib Malik spin and he was soon accompanied by symmonds who coudnt read shahid afridis spin. It was left to new star from australian side "Ferguson" and clarke to recover the damage and they infact did it brilliantly. They complemented each other and took singles and hit loose deliveries to their deserved boundaries. Once Clarke and ferguson were gone runs were hard to come by and Australia could manage below par 198. But it was enough for their bowlers to defend the target.

Pakistan started their chase quite confidently and brilliantly. At one stage they were cruising at 95 with out any loss in 22 overs. But once spin was introduced Pakistan too tumbled and kept loosing wickets at regular intervals and with the exception of Shoaib Malik all the batsmen failed to deliver. They surrendered with 171 on the board.

Cricket: "Hyderabad Deccan Chargers Open their IPL Season 2 with a big win"

Hyderabad Deccan Chargers (My very favourite team) have started their IPL Season 2 campaign with a bang. They defeated hapless Kolkatta Knight Riders team with 8 wickets. Match was started late because of rain, but the officials went on with a 20 over game.

Kolkatta Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bat first. Brendom Maccullum opened the batting and all cricket lovers were waiting for rain of 4's and 6's but to every ones shock he was departed in the second over for 1. Sourav ganguly accompanied him shortly, he wasnt comfortable at the center and out chasing a delivery. Wickets kept falling, Hyderabad didnt allow singles with their superb fielding and tighetened them up all ends. Apart from Hodge no one could make a respectable score. Hodge helped Kolkatta reached 101. Pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad were RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha.

Hyderabad Deccan Chargers started their innings shakily and lost the Gilchrist and Laxman in no time. But Gibbs (Who is on a high after winning the series against Australia) and Rohit Sharma (Who made his name here in inaugural 20 20 world cup) made sure that there were no casualties and took Hyderabad home quite convincigly.

Man of the Matchwas awarded to R P Singh for his 4 for 22 which was the turning point of the Match.

Scores: Deccan Chargers 104 for 2 (Gibbs 43*, Rohit 36*) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 101 (RP Singh 4-22) by eight wickets

Cricket: "Vettori helps Delhi win in a rain effected match"

Delhi Dare Devils registered their first win when they defeated Kings XI Punjab by ten wickets. Match was delayed due to drizzle. It was started really late and reduced to 12 over a game. Punjab lost the toss and were told to bat first.

Kings XI Punjab openers gave a strong start, at one point they were 66 for 1 in 6 overs. Vettori's over changed the complexion of the game and turned it Delhi's way. With his first ball he traped Ravi Bopara and just gave one run in that over. In his next overs he took another 2 wickets and was miserely economical. Punjab huffed and puffed to reach 104 for 7 in 12 overs.

With Sehwag and Gambhir Delhi were confident of chasing the target down and they started with the same confidence. Gambhir mere giving support and Sehwag going after the bowling. There was a small interruption due to rain and the target was reduced to 6 an over, which sehwag finished with out any hiccups. Delhi Dare Devils won quite convincingly at the end.

Man of the Match was awarded to Vettori for his 3 for 15 which really changed the match in Delhi's favour.

Cricket: "Bangalore Royal Shocks Rajasthan Royal's"

Kumble 5 for 5 made sure that Bangalore Royal Challengers started their campaign in IPL Season 2 with a band by beating the defending champions with a mamoth 75 runs. As the pitch was slow, batsmen had to work hard for their runs. Bowlers had the upper hand and these are the times when experience come handy.

Bangaloe Royal Challengers started their inning shaky with Ryder and Taylor back in their hut with in 3 delivers of their innings. Soon Uthappa followed, then entered "Mr. Dependable Dravid (Also called Wall)". Pieterson and Dravid steaded the innings and collected 35 easy runs. Then again wickets kept falling, but Dravid at one end made sure that total is ticking and with which Bangalore Royal Challengers scored 133 for 8 in their respective 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals approach was pathetic, they lost their openers within no time and wickets kept falling like playing cards. None of the batsmen were able to apply them selves. Pick of the bowlers for Bangalore Royal Challengers were Kumble (5 for 5) and Praveen Kumar (2 for 7). Rajasthan Royals were bundled out for a disappointing 58runs, which is the second lowest score in 20 20 history.

Politics: "65% Turnout in Andhra Pradesh for First Phase of Polling"

Election Officials put the turnout in Andhra Pradesh at 65% for first phase of polling. Next phase of elections will be held on thursday, 23rd April, 2009. This was quite dissappointing as this time around the % of youth were more and the total % is a letdown. South cine actor Chiranjeevi voted from jubilee hills, he was accompanied by his wife, elder daughter and son-in-law. He was pretty confident that PRP (Praja Rajyam) will win decent number of seat from first phase of elections. All the other big shots voted from their respective constituencies.

Voting starting at 9:00 am and closed at 5:00pm in all polling boots, except for naxals hit areas where it closed a little before at 3:00 pm. As the voting is done for the first phase now the campaigning is in full flow for the second phase. FYI the results will be announced on 16th May, 2009.

Polls show a tight race in key state and analysts say the outcome here could determine the balance of power at the national level.

Politics: "Andhra Pradesh First Phase elections 2009"

First Phase of Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are going to be held tomorrow in Andhra Pradesh i.e April 16th, 2009. All major parites (Congress,Telugu Desam Party - TDP,Praja Rajyam party - PRP,Telangana Rashtriya Samithi - TRS,.....) have sweated a lot for campaining for their respective parties. Yesterday was the last day for campaining and all parties have done their part to show their strengths.

All the parites are confident in their own ways. Tomorrow is the actual test for the politicians fighting in first phase of elections. Results will be announced on 16th May, 2009. This time, lot of young voters are heading to polling booths to cast their vote. Time will tell who will win with how much majority.

Opinion polls are projecting for a congress win again, but you never know what will be the outcome. All in all, all are expecting to be tough fight among parties. All we can do is just wait for May 16th, 2009.

TRS, which was then a part of the Congress-led alliance, could win 26 Assembly and six Lok Sabha seats. The CPI won five (4 in Telangana) and the CPM seven (6 in Telangana). Both the parties got 1 Lok Sabha seat each.

This is a sincere request from me to all the andhrites to go and cast their vote. Think about the future and vote for a party which is our future.

Cricket: "IPL - Indian Premier League"

Indian Premier League is what all indians are waiting for after india has conquered all the series under the leadership of dhoni. Here each one will contest with his own team mates. Players who were mere spectators in prior series will be striving hard not only to hold on to their place in the team but to be in playing 11. This is the prime reason why IPL will be the most interesting and equally threatening to their carriers.

Coming to the teams, inspite of winning the inaugural IPL tournament, rajasthan royals are less favourite than chennai super kings. Chennai super kings though lost the first tournament are the favourites in this tournment. But this is just an assumption as we have a lot of overseas and local players purchased by franchises for the second edition which will indeed show the difference in days to come. But my bet will be on chennai super kings under the leadership of Mahendra singh Dhoni.

The tournment is starting on 18th of April and this is the most anticipated tournment for all the right and wrong reasons lately. Will be shortly publishing the tournament schedule. Have shifted to new house and desperately waiting for weekend to buy a new tv to watch the IPL.
